In the Spring of 1999, Death Cab for Cutie songwriter/frontman Ben Gibbard had some time on his hands and a batch of songs running around in his head that didn't seem quite right for his band. He also had a few broken keyboards scattered about, a guitar that wouldn't stay in tune, an old four-track home-recording machine, and a Walkman with a built-in condenser mic. What would have been a recipe for disaster in the hands of a lesser musician and songwriter resulted instead in two charming lo-fi releases (a five-song self-titled CD and the Envelope Sessions cassette tape) on the excellent Bellingham, WA scene-documenting Elsinor label under the one-off moniker All-Time Quarterback. основывают свою первую группу, которая вначале называется Butler, а в 1999 году переименовывается
в Mando Diao. В 2004 году клавишник покинул группу из-за небольших недопониманий и вакантную позицию
занимает Матс Бьорке. Название группы, по словам самих музыкантов, не имеет определенного смысла —
по словам Диксгэрда, ему однажды приснился странный человек, который бежал ему навстречу и кричал
«Мандо Диао». Бьорн поделился этим сном со своими коллегами, и они решили переименовать группу.
В первые годы после своего основания группа играла в многочисленных клубах по всей Швеции и имела
своих поклонников. В 2001-м году земляк Mando Diao модератор MTV-Швеция Томми Гэрд услышал их музыку
и предложил группе контракт с фирмой EMI. С тех пор он же занимается менеджментом в группе.

(about singer Jessica Simpson), "Novotel", "Friends of Mine", "Dance with Me", "Carolina" and "Emily",
and, in Britain, his cover of The Libertines track "What a Waster".

a 7th member, a bass player, Frank, but the experiment did not last. After gigging regularly around many of Bristols pubs and
clubs the band turned professional after the members had completed their degrees, however, Luke decided to leave and the
band was reduced to a five piece.

released a single called "Me Too" and an album called Nouvelle on Siesta before deciding to move on to other labels.
The sound at this point could almost be categorised as anorak pop with influences from Sarah bands, Jim Ruiz and The Smiths.

по сути, уже готова, и остались формальности, мало имеющие отношение к творчеству, поэтому

посвященный приходу весны. Его саунд-продюсером выступил Антон Севидов, экс-Neonavt.
Эти события и будут праздновать на первом столичном концерте Truffele в 2008 году,
